Abu Dhab: Al Jazira signed five-year contracts with midfielder Yagoob Al Housani and defender Musallam Fayez, both from Al Ain, as part of the deal between the two clubs which saw Ibrahima Diaky shifting allegiance to the current league champions last week.

Fayez, one of three brothers playing for Al Ain along with Mohammad and Abdul Aziz, has played all his career for the league champions but missed some of his team’s league matches last season because of injury. He is expected to replace Juma Abdullah, the Al Jazira central defender whose injury will keep him on the sidelines for at least six months.

Al Housani started his career with Al Wahda, then went on loan to Al Dhafrah before returning to Al Wahda — where he played for two seasons — prior to joining Al Ain last season.

“I am happy to have played last season with Al Ain, winning both the Etisalat Cup and Pro-League titles.

“I am looking forward to start my new stint with Al Jazira who are a big team and I am optimistic that I will also win titles with them.”

Meanwhile, young striker Ahmad Juma was given the green light to move to any club he wants after showing his interest to move after being kept on the substitutes’ bench last season. Juma said he has four offers but did not disclose from which clubs although it is expected that Al Dhafra will be one of them where he can join his two elder brothers, Abdul Salam and Abdul Rahim, both of whom had joined from Al Jazira.

Central defender Sami Rabe’ei is also expected to decide on his future with the team after the signing of Fayez who plays on the same post.

Al Jazira, meanwhile, will organise a friendly tournament to prepare their team during Ramadan before heading for their European training camp. The tournament will be held at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium from July 31 to August 6 with the participation of Al Ahli from Saudi Arabia, Al Nahdha from

Oman and Kuwait Club.
