Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 18th April 2012 – Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts announces the chance to win a two-night stay in a Spa Pool Villa at Banyan Tree Spa Sanctuary in Phuket for graduates of the Group’s newly launched Xtraordinary Travel Consultants (XTC) University programme. All travel agents and IATA licensed travel advisors who complete the course between now and 31 May 2012 and successfully pass the final exam are eligible.

XTC University was developed with the intention of engaging luxury travel advisors to better promote Banyan Tree and Angsana properties worldwide. Launched through Travel Agent University (, XTC University consists of specially-prepared course modules in categories such as accommodation, amenities and food and beverage presented in a concise and clear manner.

Travel agents can sign up on Travel Agent University’s website where they will be led to Banyan Tree’s XTC course. They can easily browse through various sections which range from the group’s philosophy and origins to property highlights, top selling tips and programme benefits. Agents can make e-notes along the way to facilitate learning. They need not finish the entire e-course at one go and can revisit depending on their schedule. The learning exercise is then followed by a short test that requires 17 out of 20 questions answered correctly to pass. Those who achieve this benchmark will receive a personalised certificate which they can print and frame.

“We are delighted to launch XTC University as a way of developing our XTC Programme which has been very well-received by the travel consultants. XTC University aims to equip already savvy travel consultants with intimate knowledge about our product. This way, the agents can make more informed recommendations to their clients. To entice more to take time away to enrol for our course, we would like to reward one of the graduates with a two night relaxing getaway at Banyan Tree Spa Sanctuary in Phuket.” said Ms. Audrey Chung, Senior Assistant Vice President, Global Marketing Network, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts.

At the end of the course, non-XTC agents are encouraged to sign up for the attractive XTC programme which offers an array of privileges for members who secure bookings at all Banyan Tree and Angsana properties worldwide. It is designed to recognise, incentivise, and engage top-producing travel agents, and is available to consultants via either a qualifying selection process or by invitation only. Members can track their progress on the dedicated XTC website (, access useful tips and insider information on choice destinations, as well as receive updates on the latest promotions. There are currently over 3,000 agents enrolled in the programme.
